Like any silly progressive, I too was suckered into The President soaring campaign rhetoric.
who can deny that he is one of the best communicators weve seen in the whitehouse, a message man of unmatched caliber. but whats the message??? This week he stated in a very Orwellian way that regulation was bad for business. .SAY WHAT??...That is.a republican position, right??? The Democrats are supposed to be in favor of regulation, right??? because regulations have been known to save a life ot two, (ie Toyata and Deep water horizon.)
I think hes positioning himself to be more attractive to major parts of the industrial sector.(for re-election)
He failed to do as he said with regards to really stripping the banks down line by line and re-structuring them so we don't have another sub-prime like crisis, as most economist say that the next one will likely be even more destructive than this one was. (Meditate on that.)
What about the health care debaucle??? The citizens groups were excluded from the meetings at the whitehouse as soon as Obama Dealt away the public option to the HMO's and Insurance companies.
What about secrecy?? he promised us transparancy BUT.......he has stood up for the rights of telecoms(a big comtributer to the dems in general) to be protected from being sued (if they screw someone by letting their info be passed around to whoever!!)
What about green energy???...Has he delivered on this more than 10% of what could reasonable be considered a "start" to dismanting the decades old energy policy that has basically helped ruin This Country.??
That leads us to The Wars??? Has he started negotiations to get us out of the quagmire that is the AF/Pak war?? NO he has not!! many on the left believe the war in Afghanistan is an operation with goals that mirror the Soviets.
" THEY", (the Oil Cartels) want to exploit the rapidly growing Indian market with energy products from Central asia (where the US has client states such as Uzbeckistan and Kazackistan)....Afhganistan and Pakistan just happen to be between the two regions.
Our defense budget is now twice what it was 10 years ago (700 billion.) The US Navy has 11 active and 6 reserve carrier groups to rule our "empire". .. We have serious problems at home with our infrastructure and or social structure as well (ie social security needs more money as the baby boomers retire) we simply cant afford the empire at the tax payers expense for the pleasure of big business and overseas jobs!! And all that Corruption in the poppy heaven that is Afghanistan?? who wants to fund that??
How about some of these companies come home and create some more work here???
The final policy lynch pin that convinced me that Obama spans many degrees of the the political spectrum, and is now actually an Obamacan himself, was the tax cuts for the rich (deal) he made with McConnell.
The Democrats now follow almost the same banking/fiscal policy as the Republicans......Witness Geitner and the two part stim(which became the recovery act two years ago.) This move seemed necessary, (as unemplyment was going off a cliff at the time.) But it took the debt from 10 trillion (all from the Bush years), to 14 trillion (with some other spending goodies like the 900 billion dollar tax package (cut) bill Obama just signed.
It is actually a very savy political move, (coopting the middle and right positions) because the republicans always abandon their own ideas once Obama has coopted them....He did this with the mandate (for health ins.), and the tax cuts for the wealthy...... Of course cap and trade was originally a republican idea, as well. Reagan did this as well from the other side with his block of southern bluedog "Reagan" democrats.
I guess we will have to settle for a moderate Obamacan democrat, lest we get some whack job from the right wing like Sarah Palin!!
I think The Country is shifting right because of the advancement of corporate power in America (next hub).

We "vote" for "appointed" thieves from law-school who will not run a court system. They will not run a country either. They will run a corporation. Great write. There are no democrats after election. I got suckered in by Obama too, I fell for it all...so you are not alone.
I think the country is worse now than in the Bush years.
Just wait until the dollar is not longer the world's reserve currency! They say that is in the works, if that happens, our lives are gonna change, and it will not be a nice change either.

This country is worse now than under bush, but we had the crash right at the end of his term!! both parties have gotten us in this 14 trillion dollar mess.
outsourcing, deregulation(of the banks), overspending and global competition have been the main factors that have done us in!
